■Editor's Notes

I apologize for self promotion, but I am pleased to feature fusion energy, which is seeing major advances and changes worldwide. Originally, this was a research field combining physics and engineering and born from the challenge of achieving ultrahigh-temperature plasma required for nuclear fusion reactions. However, as research and development progressed from fundamental studies to practical applications, there is now a growing need for broader transdisciplinary collaboration and participation from diverse perspectives. In response, spaces for activities are being established around the world. The newly established Transdisciplinary Fusion Energy Center and the newly launched “Fusion System Design Engineering” corporate-sponsored research program are expected to lead the world in the development of fusion energy by taking advantage of the characteristics of the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences at the intersection of various fields.
