International Short-Term Programs
The Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (GSFS) offers short-term programs for undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in overseas universities and wish to study at GSFS for a short period.
１．For Undergraduate Students at Overseas Universities
UTSIP (University of Tokyo Summer Internship Program) Kashiwa
UTSIP Kashiwa, which is a summer program, is for undergraduate students from overseas universities who plan to study at GSFS for their graduate study. Participants in this program will experience world-class research for 47 days. There are two fixed program periods, and you may apply for either one. Scholarships and housing are provided by GSFS. GSFS Short Program - Global Research and Innovation (GSFS-GRI)
GSFS Short Program - Global Research and Innovation, which is also a short-term program, is for undergraduate students from overseas universities who wish to experience world-class research at GSFS for a period of between 30 and 90 days. Applicants are expected to select a faculty member at GSFS whom you wish to be supervised and contact his/her directly to confirm whether he/she is available to accept you. Each participant can decide the period of program at his/her own convenience after consulting his/her prospective supervisor at GSFS. GSFS will not provide any financial support. Differences between UTSIP and GSFS-GRI
２．For Graduate Students at Overseas Universities
Graduate students enrolled in master's or doctoral programs at overseas universities are not eligible to apply for any of the above short-term programs. Instead, GSFS has other systems in which we accept non-degree seeking graduate students for a short period.
Graduate students from partner universities
Graduate students nominated from our partner universities may apply for "Special Auditing Student" or "Special Research Student" status, and if their application is approved, they may study at GSFS for up to one year while keeping a student status at their home universities. Paying tuition to GSFS will be exempted.
Graduate students from non-partner universities
Graduate students from non-partner universities may apply for "Special Research Student" status, and if their application is approved, they may study at GSFS for up to one year. They are required to pay tuition to GSFS for the entire study period at GSFS.
Please note that "Special Auditing Students" can start their study at GSFS only at the beginning of a semester, April or October, and they are eligible to register classes offered by the University of Tokyo. The study period of "Special Research Students" are flexible, but they are not eligible to register classes.

３．For those who wish to enroll in GSFS
GSFS receives applications from non-Japanese nationals who have a bachelor's degree and wish to receive research advice from our faculty members. If their applications are approved, they are able to enroll as "Graduate International Research Students" for a maximum of one year. GSFS confers neither degrees nor qualifications on Graduate International Research Students. Admission is only in April or October.
