Visa and Status of Residence

All prospective international students and faculty members of the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences must obtain a visa before they enter Japan, regardless of the length of their stay. A Certificate of Eligibility, which proves the applicant's activity in Japan, is required in most cases upon visa application. The Graduate School of Frontier Sciences will apply for a Certificate of Eligibility at the Immigration Bureau of the Ministry of Justice in Japan on their behalf. Once they receive their Certificate of Eligibility, they must submit it at the Japanese embassy or a consulate in their home country along with the visa application documents.
