The Progress of Nuclear Fusion Energy Development

EJIRI Akira,Professor, Division of Transdisciplinary Science

Nuclear fusion energy is generated by artificially produced nuclear fusion reactions, simulating the ones occurring inside the core of the sun. Some private capital has started supporting the development in recent years. This seminar gives information on the basic principles of the nuclear fusion mechanism and introduces the characteristics of fusion energy and the progress of fusion energy development.

Mental and Physical Conditions Detection by Wearable Devices

NISHIYAMA Yuuki, Lecturer, Division of Environmental Studies

If physical and mental conditions, such as depression, can be automatically detected, it allows early treatments for illness and various medical applications. To realize this, research on passive mobile sensing to monitor mental and physical conditions passively by something we use every day, such as smartphones, is promoted. This seminar introduces the trend of passive mobile sensing research.
