Clinical sequencing opens up new cancer drug therapies

Professor Kazuya Tsuchihara

Comprehensive genomic analysis has revealed cancer-specific biological properties, and new drug development for these new therapeutic targets is underway. Efficient screening of subjects for clinical trials and the development of diagnostic systems in parallel with the development of therapeutic agents are essential for the development of molecular targeted drugs. We describe the prospects and challenges of the SCRUM-Japan project, a nationwide genomic screening project for lung cancer and colorectal cancer in collaboration with industry and academia.

Development of a Japanese-style telescope for planets in space

Professor Ichiro Yoshikawa

There are many purposes for launching a satellite. You may be familiar with weather forecasting, communications, disaster forecasting, disaster management, and military. In addition, there are satellites launched for scientific purposes. I would like to introduce the Space Planet Telescope, which was developed by Japan and mainly by universities. I will introduce what triggered it, how it was made, how long it took to develop, and what kind of results have been achieved.
