Research Activities
My group has been conducting research in physical geography, mainly geomorphology and hydrology. We often use geographical information systems (GIS) as our main analytical tool. We conduct research at an international level. Areas recently studied include East Asia, Italy, Syria and the UK. Our major research topics are rivers, alluvial fans, hillslopes, riverine water quality, surveying, and geoarchaeology. Currently ongoing projects include 1) research on increased rainfall and landslide hazards in Japan in response to global warming; 2) investigation of sediment delivery after volcanic eruption at Vesuvius in Italy and Pinatubo in the Philippines; and 3) GIS analysis of water quality data in British and Japanese watersheds.
