Research Activities

We have been working on biomechatronics technologies based on biomedical instrumentation, haptic engineering, human-machine systems, and computer sciences to understand, support, and enhance abilities of humans. Specifically, we are studying ambient sensors, displays and control technologies based on biophysics, mechatronics and intelligent analysis, and developing these applications in medical and sport fields.

- Ubiquitous tactile sensor giving pressure sensing function to the environment (Literature 1).
- Ambient sensing technologies to estimate body motion and action from indirect biological signal (Literature 2,3).
- Motion guiding system based on neuro-feedback(Literature 4)
- Sensory feedback technologies for teleoperation

Future Plan

In order to deepen the understanding of human and physical phenomenon and create a wealthy society with an advanced information and machine environment, actuators and sensors are essential. In particular, it is required that device and system enable precise measurement and control and are in harmony with the environment and humans. To this end, we are exploring new device functions, creating intelligent measurement technologies, optimizing human-machine systems as a pioneer of bioengineering and mechatronics research.
