Information on Research Student Program at the Graduate School

※"Research Students" study a specific research theme under a professor for one year. No credits or degrees will be awarded.

Graduate Research Student Program and Graduate International Research Student Program Application and Selection Schedule for the Entry in October 2026 - Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (GSFS), The University of Tokyo -

Graduate Research Student Program and Graduate International Research Student Program are a non-degree seeking program for those who wish to research on a specific subject under the supervision of a professor at the GSFS.

Please note that the application schedule is different for graduate research students and graduate international research students.

Selection Result Announcement As soon as the results are determined A certificate of admission will be sent to the successful candidates.

Graduate International Research Student Program Registration Period April 1, 2026～
May 7, 2026
Application Period April 1, 2026～
May 8, 2026, 5pm		 Applications are accepted at any time during the application period.
Selection Around the end of June 2026
Selection Result Announcement As soon as the results are determined A certificate of admission will be sent to the successful candidates.
Admission Procedure Deadline September 16, 2026

  • If you wish to apply for a Graduate Research Student Program or a Graduate International Research Student Program, please contact your academic supervisor before applying.
  • International applicants should, as a general rule, apply for admission as a Graduate International Research Student Program.
