The period of validity for the Certificates of Eligibility is generally for 3 months but as of June 26th 2021, the following provisions have been made.
・CoEs issued from January 1st 2021 to July 31st 2021 will be considered valid until January 31st 2022.
・CoEs issued from August 1st 2021 to January 31st 2022 will be considered valid for 6 months from the date of issuance.

To qualify for the validity stated above, you must submit a document issued by the the university stating that "it is still willing to accept the applicant for the purposes stated at the time of application for the issuance of the Certificate of Eligibility."
Students who require this document should contact the International Liaison Office or the Students Affairs Team.

*Please note that even with the extension of the period of validity of the CoE, a valid visa is still required.
If an applicant has been granted a visa using their CoE, but has not been able to enter Japan before the expiry date of the visa due to the COVID-19 outbreak and meets the conditions above, they may re-use their CoE to apply for a new visa.
