Project Researcher WADA Naohisa in the Department of Integrated Biosciences won the Shiro Kawaguchi Award at the 25th Meeting of the Japanese Coral Reef Society. The JCRS evaluates research achievements' originality, sense of innovation, ripple effect, and contribution to the JCRS activities and selects one researcher per year among eminent coral reef researchers to give the Shiro Kawaguchi Award.

Message from the Awardee:
I am truly honored to receive the award named after Dr. KAWAGUCHI Shiro, who discovered the symbiosis of corals and zooxanthella, from the JCRS. I am grateful that the JCRS appreciated my epidemiology surveys, pathological histology studies, and bacteria flora analyses. I want to thank all professors who have guided me, and my colleagues. I will make every effort than ever before to research symbiotic bacteria in the coral reef ecosystem.
