Career Summary

1999: Graduated from the Faculty of Engineering (The University of Tokyo)
2004: Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo
2004: Postdoctoral scholar (Stanford University)
2006: Tenure-tracked Associate Professor (Osaka University)
2011: Associate Professor (Osaka University)
2016: Associate Professor (The University of Tokyo)

Research Activities

We are studying non-equilibrium reaction environments and interfaces produced by plasma and/or laser excitation for synthesizing novel materials, for developing novel processing techniques, and for developing new applications with them. The main topics include:
1) Optical diagnostics of an interface between plasma and a condensed matter
2) Plasma-induced reactions in a microdroplet for 3D printing
3) Nano-composite materials synthesis with plasma-induced reactions in liquids
4) Nano-particles synthesis via laser-ablated plasma in high-pressure liquids
5) Applications of photoexcited surfaces in sensors or energy devices

Other Activities

The Japan Institute of Metals and Materials
Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP)
The Japan Society of Plasma Science and Nuclear Fusion Research
American Physical Society (APS)

Future Plan

I would like to establish an educational research group studying non-equilibrium processing/reactions at interfaces.

Messages to Students

Cutting-edge research provides unique educational environments where you are addressing problems with solutions that have not yet been revealed by anybody. I hope you will obtain the ability to work and compete in the world through these unique environments.
