Research Activities

All materials around us derive their properties and functions from the arrangement and interaction of atoms and molecules. By precisely designing and controlling the combinations, spatial arrangements, and even defects of about 100 elements on the atomic scale, we can create new materials with unprecedented properties. Our lab explores “molecular ionics”, a new materials science based on precisely structured inorganic molecular units such as polyoxometalates and inorganic clusters. By hybridizing with organic molecules and designing hierarchical assemblies, we aim to control the transport and reactions of electrons, ions, and molecules at the molecular level. Through a fusion of inorganic chemistry, catalyst chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, electrochemistry, and materials science, we strive to uncover the essence of materials science.
