Master's Thesis Screening Process

0. Announcements related to the screening

  • Please pay attention to the student mailig list of the department for important information such as the submission procedure.

1. Check the Master's thesis format and required documents

  • Download the documents from GSFS Office Portal Site.Search for the announcement on the information about Master Thesis for graduation in the relevant month.
  • The announcement is posted approximately a month before the thesis submission deadline. Note that the information may vary for different graduation timings. The same information is sent by the mailing list from the GSFS student affairs team.
  • The title page of the Master's thesis should be formatted according to "Sample of Master’s Thesis Title Page" and "Important points when publishing a master's thesis" in "Guideline for Master Course Thesis Publication (Kashiwa Library)." The format is the same regardless of whether or not you are disclosing the thesis at the library.
  • The "Agreement" forms are required when submitting the final version of the thesis. The "Agreement" form from the collaborators and publishers may be necessary; please prepare in advance.

2. Submission of the Master's Thesis Title

  • Deadline: 14:00 on the submission deadline date
  • Deliverables: thesis title

3. Submission of the Master's Thesis

4. Master's Thesis Defense

  • Submit the abstract (A4 2 pages, PDF) by the day before the defense.
  • 20 minutes presentation, 9 minutes questions and answers.

5. Submission of the Final Version of the Thesis

  • Deadline: 14:00 on the submission deadline date
  • Deliverables:
    • Master's thesis
    • "Agreement (Master's Thesis)"
    • "Agreement (Joint_Researchers, Publisher) (if disclosing the thesis)
    • Abstract (if disclosing)
  • Students disclosing the hard copy of the thesis should put the thesis in an envelope and submit it to the department secretary (4F2)
