- Units Necessary for Graduation
Master's Students
To graduate, students must take a minimum of 30 units, write a passing master's thesis, and pass the final examinations. (The 30 units include Compulsory Courses.)
The normative time to graduation is 2 years. However, students with a superior academic record may graduate after being enrolled for one year. (Graduate School of Frontier Sciences Regulations Article 3)
Doctoral Students
To graduate, students must take a minimum of 20 units, write a passing doctoral dissertation, and pass the final examinations. (The 20 units include Compulsory Courses.)
The normative time to graduation is 3 years. However, students with a superior academic record may graduate after being enrolled for the time period specified in the relevant sections of the Graduate School of Frontier SciencesRegulations Article 4.

- Options for Submitting Class Schedules
There are two options for submitting class schedules: Course Registration System (using 「UT-mate」), and in person (completing and submitting the forms "Course Signup Form (Form 1)"and "Selected Subject Table (Form 2)".)
Option 1: Course Registration System
Before submitting class schedules Course Registration System, be sure to obtain your supervisor's approval regarding the proposed selection of courses.
To submit class schedules Course Registration System, visit 「UT-mate」(https://ut-gakumu.adm.u-tokyo.ac.jp/websys-e/campus)
Submission of Class Schedule:
Summer Semester: April 12, 2010 (Mon.) 9 AM - April 16, 2010 (Fri.) 5 PM
Winter Semester: October 12, 2010 (Tue.) 9 AM - October 15, 2010 (Fri.) 5 PM
* Submissions outside of these time periods will not be accepted.
Option 2: In Person
If class schedules are submitted Course Registration System, there is no need to submit them in person.
Download "Course Signup Form (Form 1)"and "Selected Subject Table (Form 2)"(see below). Obtain your supervisor's approval regarding the proposed selection of courses, and submit the completed forms to School Affairs Section of the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (First Floor, Transdisciplinary Sciences Building, Kashiwa Campus).

Modification of Class Schedule
School Affairs Section will create Grade Report Sheet based on submitted class schedules and send copies to students in care of their supervisors. If it is necessary to make modifications(including Additions) to the class schedule, please visit visit 「UT-mate」(https://ut-gakumu.adm.u-tokyo.ac.jp/websys-e/campus) If you can't visit 「UT-mate」, please download "Registration Revision Form (Form 3)"(see below). Submit the completed form to School Affairs Section of the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (First Floor, Transdisciplinary Sciences Building, Kashiwa Campus).
Modification of Class Schedule:
Summer Semester: May 10, 2010 (Mon.) - May 14, 2010 (Fri.)
Winter Semester: November 1, 2010 (Mon.) - November 5, 2010 (Fri.)
Hours: 9 AM - 12 PM, 1 PM - 5 PM (excluding Saturdays and Sundays)

Summer semester courses and academic year courses are to be reported during the summer semester submission period. Winter semester courses are to be reported during the winter semester submission period. Report courses that span two or more semesters during the initial summer semester registration period. There is no need to report them during subsequent registration periods. |

Report Compulsory Courses. (Report courses that span two semesters during the initial registration period. There is no need to report them during subsequent registration periods.) |

Students are not permitted to take courses offered at the same time. |
| d. |
Submissions and modifications of class schedules will not be accepted outside the specified time periods. (The grades of only those courses that are reported in a timely manner are reported.) |
| e. |
Students are not permitted to take a course if they have already taken another course with the same course number in which they earned a grade of C or higher. |
| f. |
Every department determines its own Compulsory Courses as well as the transferability of Subjects Taught by Undergraduate Schools, other departments of the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, and other graduate schools of The University of Tokyo. |
