Announcements

The University of Tokyo and a group of Japanese technology leaders (Note 1) established a cooperation program called "Maritime and Ocean Digital Engineering" (MODE) on October 1, 2022. The program aims to promote and enhance digital engineering technology and skills for the maritime sector by building cooperative simulation platforms.

New company: DAIHATSU DIESEL MFG. Co., Ltd. joined Maritime and Ocean Digital Engineering (MODE) on July 27, 2023.

Welcoming DAIHATSU DIESEL MFG. Co., Ltd. to MODE is expected to further expand and strengthen the formation of a center for research and development, practical implementation, and human resource development for decarbonization and automation in the maritime sector. The program will continue to expand its activities by inviting more participants from Japan and abroad.

About MODE

This is a social collaboration program established at the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, The University of Tokyo on October 1, 2022, to address issues faced by the Japanese maritime industry, such as "development of new technologies and their social implementation in the global trend toward decarbonization," "introduction of automated vessels to improve safety and work styles to maintain shipping services," and "ensuring overwhelming productivity in the increasingly sophisticated ship design and manufacturing processes.
