Using a rapidly-evolving GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and spatial information database, I examine urban spatial and socioeconomic issues. In particular, I focus on: 1) the relationships between urban spatial structure and changes in industrial structure, social structure, the transportation environment, and information and telecommunications; and 2) urban spatial structure and urban and transportation policy that promote the sustainability of cities.
